But then....if they move us to the crap table we can use them as a tablecloth instead of the paper.

Isn't Singapore the place where you can get fined $500 just for depositing chewing gum on the floor of the underground? I wouldn't try bribery over there.:)

Hi all,

I'm going to be moving to Dubai in 3 weeks time from the slightly waterlogged UK.

Never been, no idea where i will be living, how I will get around or pretty much anything other than I start work on the 28th Sept and nearly everything is provided for. Hopefully find out more before I land.

Would I see out my first week in Dubai if I cycling to work everyday? Would I succumb to the sun, the traffic or the authorities first?

Matt

I would say its a bad idea.

when you dont know where he will be living or working?

There are some places that are ok to cycle. Its not too dangerous. Granted its not exactly the safest, but where is.

Mate, get a bike and cycle to work. Apart from if you live in Sharjah and work in Jebel Ali.

Even Chris Hoy wouldnt attempt that one

I'm dying to get a bike but I could ride it around the streets but they only go so far, maybe up to uptowmn mirdif but anywhere where there are roads its almost suicidal.

I have a great back back home, a specialises FSR and went everyone on it, I really, really miss it.

Where is the best place to get bikes then?

Try Bur Dubai police station... Heard they have a heap in their 'Lost, Found and Just Plain Confiscated' department....

Wolfe's on SZR has a good selection. THing is they are bloody expensive here. I got my bike in Houston for approx 30% of the price i would pay here. Granted it was in the sale, but still.

As for cycling, i get up at around 5ish on a fri morning and have a long ride. Sets me up for the rest of the day.

As soon as they fix the road here at work, i am going to cycle in to work. Those that have been to Mussaffa industrial est in AD will confirm that i am mad, but hey ho, fortune favours the brave, who dares wins etc etc

You'll read about me in the obiturues in 7 days.....:D

Thanks for the responses. Guess it depends where I'm going to be located as to whether I ride and how I meet my maker.

I have already had to find a new home for 2 of my 4 bikes. Its going to be bad enough leaving my Land Rover in the UK let alone bikes as well!

Live in Summertown Oxford at the moment but looking forward to leaving Oxford, 10 years is plenty long enough to stay in one place.

Pub Quiz sounds good not that I'm any good mind.

Matt
