Interestingly, accompanying me in our visit to Las Malvinas will be two ex-members of HM armed forces. I'm sure we will trade amusing stories with the local Malvinasians en castellano...

Good luck finding anyone who speaks Spanish.

Unless it involves crossing a road away from a formal crossing.... ;)

A Grand , i'd rather have fought my way out of the hovel and got chinned than hand that sort of cash over !

In fairness, I'd have laughed at not having a grand to give anyone.

Got Cape Town / Stellenbosch booked beginning of March, 4 weeks before Day Zero. The draught looks awful and I hope they get some rain soon.

UK and Italy for the summer and then Sydney for chrimbo.

The drought is awful . We were there visiting family at the end of October and it was really evident around Stellenbosch even then. Our hotel was very grateful that we said we didn’t need clean sheets and towels every day ... and we drank wine instead of water in another effort to help, too:lol:

*it's a British passport that I don't have: my parentage does however make me a British citizen (or more correctly, subject) regardless.

Which side of the elephant? Left or right?

Would have given it a go too especially as I was with my mate nicknamed 'Chunk' who would have snapped them in two, but I only found the receipt when on my way (late) to the airport the next morning..... I must have signed my first receipt off without looking and they noticed bumping the next one I signed up significantly. My fault and lesson learned but still. Have contacted them but they aren't being particularly helpful surprisingly....... and its not like I can go to my UAE bank and tell them I got scammed in a strip club! I haven't yet forgotten about it and will sooner or later think up something which will cost them more than I lost.... even if I won't get it back a little revenge is always nice. I started by putting a freedom for information request in about illegal activity.... and so maybe some negative publicity and trouble with their next licence application would placate me..... maybe not.
