For a terror offense (or plotting to go-against the government)... I suspect it very much does mean life... or maybe death.

The only thing I was confused about were those let off, or given shorter sentences.

It is. It's near me.

The name of the mosque has been public knowledge for a while. I note that the report says the whereabouts of two of the men sentenced is "unknown" which isn't comforting. A Comoros Islands passport sounds unusual too.

I am pleased that the UAE authorities are strict when it comes to issues like this. I don't agree with any death sentances (that's a different topic though) but the no-messing attitude is good.

Wasn't the Comoros passport thing the way they skirted the issue of long time multi generational expats born in country not being able to gain citizenship? Or some such malarkey.

yup, the UAE has reciprocal rights with the comoros so they give it to people they want to have some emirati rights but not all or its given to emiratis that they have taken their uae passport from.

its basically a second tier citizenship for the uae
