Histon 1-0 Leeds

Matthew Langston's header stunned Leeds and earned non-league Histon a home tie with Swansea in the FA Cup third round.

In a game played in awful conditions, postman Langston netted from Gareth Gwillim's corner just before half-time.

Until that point Histon had rarely threatened, with Patrick Ada's near-own goal and Luciano Becchio's shot over being Leeds' best first-half chances.

Lubomir Michalik hit the post and had a shot cleared off the line as Leeds sought an equaliser but to no avail.

A quote from the Leeds (Dubai Whites) Fan club chairman himself:

The torrent of piss taking is going to be hard to swallow. How much lower can we stoop? However as Churchill once said: "An optimist is someone who can always see the positive in a crisis; a pessimist is someone who can create a calamity out of an opportunity." At least we can now concenrate on promotion. Or is it time for Mac to go?

Yet more evidence to support something that I have maintained for some time now........

......... that the Conference (or whatever it's called this week) is far far better in terms of playing standard than anyone seems to realise.

The players are mostly good enough to play in League One or Two.

Why don't they? Because in many cases, a League One player may earn about GBP 600-800 a week (common) with occasional players who earn about 1,000 per week (very few) - which many of the Conference players can earn close to anyway in regular jobs, while getting paid for semi-pro footy............

That is a very good point and to be honest I said this morning we could well slip up against Histon!!

The conference has improved immensley and fair play to Histon, good luck against Swansea in the next round !

Obviously didn't see the game but judging by reports they more than held their own and got a result !

Oh and Leeds were shite !

Don't worry - my lot were knocked out by the might of Southend United - and missed a lucrative third-round game at Chelsea............

not really as if you had beaten the Shrimpers then you would not have had the same number ball that they had in the draw.

the mighty Shrimps from Christie Park face a re-aranged match tonight against Chelenham for the honour of a glamour 3rd round tie against Donnie!
