Shipping conainter to St. Lucia
 

Well, we are down to three quotes from shipping companies and I am looking for any info on these companies: Tropical Shipping, who uses Beachcomber Ltd as their St. Lucia agent, Econocaribe and Sea Freight Agencies. Don't know who Econocaribe or Sea Freight use/recommend for St. Lucia brokers/agents. All three quotes are within $500. We are shipping a 20' container, door to port, from the Tampa, FL area to Castries. We will be self loading the container. Quotes are from $2,500 to $3,000.

Any info or recommendations either way?

Update: We used Tropical Shipping out of Palm Beach, FL (near Miami) at the rate of $2600 US, which included two hours of loading time. Unfortunately, it took us five hours to load the container, so that added $180 US. The container left Palm Beach Thursday and arrived in St. Lucia on the following Tuesday. We discovered that you MUST have a broker in St. Lucia handle some of the paperwork for you - 550 EC, which was a good deal as our first quote was 1800 EC. We were required to deposit 3000 EC for customs duties - not sure if we will get any of that back...there is at least a month processing time before it, if any, is returned. We paid 850 EC for a truck to bring the container from Castries to Soufriere - consider Vieux Fort as an alternate entry port. Let me know if you want any further details and I will be happy to oblige - I had a hard time getting specific info prior to our move and am more than willing to share my experience with anyone who cares or needs more details.
