Chance of a lifetime..questions

My husband has been offered a 3 year postion with one of the major banks there. We have 2 kids that would go to The International School. We also have a dog and I've heard it is not easy to get a dog into St. Lucia. I'd like any opinions on life in St. Lucia I could get. We would live in the Rodney Bay area. My husband would work in Castries. We are Canadian. It sounded like a dream come true, but the more I think about it the more scared I am . I worry about making friends, being safe and of course finding someone to watch our dog if we want to go on holiday. Any advice or opinions would be great. We are in our early 40's and the kids are 8 and 11.
Thanks!

Stop fretting and just go and enjoy the experience. Rodney Bay is a fine area to live in and the International school has built up a good reputaion and follows a canadian syllabus so your kids will fit right in. There is every amenity you will need in Rodney Bay and of course you also have the gorgeous Reduit beach right on your door step. As for the dog as long as you follow the quarantine rules there should be no problem bringing your dog in and getting a pet sitter whilst you are away should not be a problem either. Your brood sounds pretty much the same as ours, kids similar age and with such a good offer on the table what have you to lose ?
