I have lived in the UK for many years andI have learned to appreciate its people, history and traditions and I am not afraid to say that I know that I am in the UK when I feel at home. It is that simple

Too much complaining and apologising these days. I don't know why this type of supposed incident even makes the national news.

I'm totally shocked that this story made national news. On the bright side it shows that the UK doesn't have too much going on in the way of tragic news if they print this tittle tattle.

Yes actually that is a very good way of looking at it, if a non story like this is worth reporting and indeed sharing it really can only be seen as a positive

Did it make the national news? Serious question as I don't see the news on tv or get any papers, and the article was in the regional area (Hampshire/IoW) of the BBC news website.

I made the inference from the fact it was on the BBC Web site.

Yes, but the regional web site, not the main one. There are specific psrts of the BBC site that are for regional news, stuff that wouldn't make the nationals and local reactions to national stories, how the locality is affected.
