Or just be in your kitchen without seeing hideous creatures the size of your hand. Slight exaggeration (not quite that big) but I got so sick of the giant bugs in New York. Our whole neighborhood was overrun by what they called Palmetto bugs but which just means big cockroaches. If the Terminix man didn't come quite often enough you'd walk into your kitchen and see a giant one sitting on the counter staring at you. UGH!
LOVE Amazon UK. The post here is amazing. |
Re: You know your in the UK when .....
You know when you're in the UK when............. you're driving along a side street and you have to pull in to a space to let an on coming car get by, then you're flashed by another oncoming car to move forward to the next space then you flash the next car to come forward then you hop to the next space after being flashed and then you............... three days later you reach the end of the street, turn right and repeat the process.

Re: You know your in the UK when .....
I know that was a joke but you know you're in the UK when drivers flash and give way and you get a wave when letting someone out.

All you need is one parked car causing an obstruction for the normal passage of motor vehicles and you have exactly this scenario.

Yes, after years of putting up with rude arrogant drivers in Australia it is so refreshing to now share the roads with courteous drivers.

Re: You know your in the UK when .....
You know you're in the UK when.............. you have to learn how to parallel park all over again.
Oh and for me............ how to use a stick shift. Soon comes back to me though, after picking a hire car up from Gatwick and stalling half a dozen times as traffic on the M25 slows or comes to a standstill. Oh.......... and no cupholders in vehicles. :o:o:o |
Re: You know your in the UK when .....

Re: You know your in the UK when .....
You know you're back in the UK when.............. you pick up your hire care and have to put some of your luggage on the back seat as the boot only accomodates one suitcase.

Yes I would have said hire a bigger car as well. I assume most cars in America are silly great gas guzzlers but I havent noticed much difference as more and more people in Australia are downsizing cars to save money, which makes perfect sense. Still loads of big cars on the roads here though.
