Woman faces deportation after 27 years

To be honest if the information given to solicit funds on the gofundme page is not correct, it may be that the funds would be seen to have been gained through false representation.

Nothing that's happened so far indicates that she intends to actually follow the correct visa process.

Just shows how many ppl have spare money to throw away. Not only that. They believe anything the press writes.
GoFundMe will do nothing unless somebody reports a fraud.

Well following the process she did, hasn't worked too well for her so far, unless you count the £52,000 she has in the bank.

Bloody hell! What's the fund raising for michali, do you know? She can't be expecting to appeal and win, she was here illegally. For a long time.

Sympathy and empathy are remarkably absent from this rather dispiriting thread. It's a relief that callousness is not the only response.

It is also possible that the donors understand the issues just as well as you do, but disagree with the UK's immigration laws, and feel sympathy for the lady and her family.

I have a lot of sympathy for the 2,500 odd people who had been duped into donating money to this woman's 'cause' by bare faced lies, the children who grew up largely without their mother and the Home Office who have now been vilified for enforcing the law which she had 20 years to comply with and chose not to.

And just an FYI for those who are saying contact GoFundMe.... GoFundMe doesn't care about why a fundraiser is set up or who uses the money for what. Especially if it's in a country other than the US.

Even if someone reports a fraud GoFundMe does nothing unless police get a warrant. The person who set up the fund for my son's funeral stole the money and the police here in Western Australia were useless and GoFundMe were even more useless.

Our immigration laws are tough, just as those in other countries. Having been through the stress of two applications in the past three years, where you cannot leave one applicable box unticked without the risk of being refused, I know all about it!

1) You will need £62,500 in a bank account for six moths in order to satisfy the UK spouse visa financial requirement.
2) UK visa fees and immigration health surcharge
3) one way airline ticket from Singapore to the UK
I don't think she will have much money left over after achieving all of the above.
