I got a letter out of the blue today from the DWP. My Winter Fuel Payment of £200 is on its way ! In addition I qualified for the "Warm Home Discount" which is a credit of £140 paid to my fuel bill. I face a warm winter. A cynic might say these payments are needed because the basic State Pension in the UK is so low.
