Re: What makes Britain Great?
The husband of a German friend calls us Little Britain. He was told off, but no doubt it is how he sees us these days.

only in Worcester ...

A COMPANY looking to fill 50 vacancies at a Worcester factory was astounded when not one person came forward.
Recruitment agency Consistent Personnel offered 50 positions at a food factory but received no enquiries, despite job figures in September showing more than 2,000 people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance in Worcester.
Danny James, owner of the agency, has spoken of his disbelief that staff at the city’s job centre could not find him a single jobseeker for the work after he put in a request on Wednesday.
The job is about eight hours a day – 35 hours a week – for three months over the Christmas period, paying £6.31 per hour.

Re: What makes Britain Great?
It pains me to say this, but the longer I'm here and the more I see, hear and personally experience, the more I have to agree with my German friends that the greatness has gone out of Britain.
We were once the envy of the world with our industries, unfortunately we are now dragging along behind formerly backward nations.
We were at the forefront of the industrial revolution, we were innovative and wealthy, yet those days are history. I am shocked to see so many German cars on our roads, astonishingly in my area about 40%. I would like to see British cars, but many of their factories have closed.
We did well last year with the Olympic Games, and it gave us all pride that Britain was seen as being able to achieve such a spectacle, yet at the grass roots nothing much seems to have changed.
But this thread is about what makes Britain Great, so I mustn't dwell on the opposite
