Although that last one means that places like the NE are increasingly depressed, depopulated and inexpensive so that I can move back, buy a nice house for not much money and live well off my yankee dollars as long as the NHS survives.

You've mentioned concerns about the NHS before. Care to elaborate. I too have concerns about the NHS and means testing for pensions etc.

Just the creeping contracting out and privatization of services. Lack of funding is resulting in poor services which I fear will be used as an excuse to cut back further on NHS services an have them replaced by private contractors.

We have had to use the NHS various times since being back including just last week and have been incredibly satisfied with the service we have received. There is lots of nonsense being bandied about, changes have to be obviously but it will be with us for many years yet.

Absolutely that is very obviously the case, sometimes you have to consider the posting history of a member when reading some comments.

My mum's treatment on the NHS has been very good. However, stories of poor NHS performance will be used as an excuse to phase it out by those that either want to save money or are idealogically opposed to the NHS. Those stories might, or might not, be true.
