The best thing to do when someone is deliberately trying to stir up the sh*t between people (as in the original purpose of this thread) or wind up a specific individual is to ignore it.
Difficult at times but why give them what they want? |

Shenstone is south of Lichfield. Nice place but a bit too close to the M6 for my tastes, and proximity to the motorway puts up property prices.
Stone is south of Stoke and north of Stafford, has a railway station and is on the canal system too (two of my nineteenth century ancestors who were bargees got married there). A lot of new building on the flood plain which is to be avoided, but pleasant Victorian properties in the old town. Admiral John Jervis is buried in the churchyard. Nice church. Good transport links, partly thanks to yours truly who was part of campaign objecting to closure of train station. Herefordshire apparently has no motorways but I suspect one does just cross the 'border' at some point. :D |

You got it, spot on.
As old.sparkles implied earlier, the below response by the OP is definitely a feigned one.

A definition:

Yes I suppose Shenstone was fairly close to the motorway, never really noticed at the time though.

Re: What makes Britain completely crap?
You know there is something that makes Britain crap or more accurately something that is crap in Britain, that is the fact that I cant buy Dim Sims here. Not to be confused with Dim Sum, these are little packets of loveliness that any Aussie will be familiar with. They are quite an odd thing, no-one seems to know exactly what goes into them, most seem to agree it is some form of road kill and cabbage wrapped in a crispy pastry. For something that sounds so unappealing they really are delicious and deeply missed by myself if not the rest of the family :D

You're another person now who has openly said that this is a troll thread - that's bandrui, Harvester523, (to some extent) old.sparkles, and now you dunroving.
What you say seems to directly match the definition of trolling in the site rulesTo simply ignore a troll thread as you suggest dunrovin, is to ignore the site rules. I tend to use the "T" word very sparingly and in this case I don't think it applies, TBH. Whenever I think something on this part of the forum is verging on the excessive, I take a trip to the TIA forum and am reminded that threads here are generally harmless, even if at times people can be plain obnoxious or irritating. |

Well there are degrees of "stirring" and in this case I think it's more a "known irritant" than some external newcomer who is really pushing the limits.

I am not "sweating" anything. If you believe the thread had moved on, then why post what you did? I was simply responding to your post.
I would also suggest that if the thread has moved on from "what makes Britain completely crap" to little places people like, then all posts such as those are off-topic. Perhaps if you and others want to talk about such a thing, then a new thread should be started and all these off-topic posts moved over to it.

Nothing changes. It's plainly obvious that most folks are now discussing favourite places, mine is Cumbria, but I like Cornwall and Dorset too.... |

Nah! It's like everything else; if one makes a judgement call on others, they clearly see themselves as not part of it, when in fact they add to the mix. But elevated ground is so compelling if it makes you feel good....
