Default Titles of UK TV Programs Recommendations

BEVS requested a thread listing only the titles of UK TV program recommendations.

To keep this thread easy to view please post the title and a brief description and/or link...as in posts # 2, 3 and 4. Anything more than that should be posted in the Broadchurch thread...ie spoilers, discussions, opinions etc...as we've been doing for the last 2 years.

Thank you

Foyle's War - understated detective series in its 7th (maybe 8th or 9th) season, starring Michael Kitchen and Honeysuckle Weeks. Initially set in WWII, it is now set post-war.

Last Tango in Halifax - Second Series currently on. Story of two pensioners who find each other again after being school sweethearts. Quirky set of characters. Starring Derek Jacobi and Sarah Lancashire.

I'd also be interested in any UK-available foreign programs too (subtitled stuff!)

Spiral (French police/legal drama) just restarted.

Death Comes to Pemberley - BBC. Written by PD James, it picks up where Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice leaves off.

Wolf Hall starting on BBC2 next Wednesday - based on Hilary Mantel's books, staring Damien Lewis and filmed in some fabulous locations including Montacute House (well worth a visit).

It's a really crass comedy series - but it's very funny and the new series starts tonight at 9pm UK time on ITV 1:

Benidorm (lol!).

Lots of older episodes on YouTube.

Happy Valley - excellent police drama. Grauniad named it as program of 2014.

Scott and Bailey - TV police series with two policewomen.

unforgiven - three parter about a woman found guilty of murdering two policemen while a teenager. Upon her release she wants to find her sister.

The Amazing Mrs Pritchard- a woman with no previous political experience becomes PM

Aka anything written by Sally Wainwright

We just watched the trilogy (subtitles) of the Swedish films Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. All were on US Netflix. Excellent.
