Taking US power tools to the UK

Hello all,

so I have a question reference running carpentry tools such as a thickness planer or miter saw which come from the US and taking them back to the UK. So it's a 15amp motor at 120V so 1800watts. Could I just use a transformer in the UK and they work fine?
