Sadly, it is no longer even a pale reflection of its early glory, but Hamish has stuck it out since the beginning.

He is truly well worth reading, although he plainly struggles against the stupidity of his owner.
Funny thing that!

I agree with you about the Independent - and its following, but had for the longest while enjoyed reading Hamish McRae and I guess I cast him by the way-side along with the rest of the rag.

Will be more focused on him only.

Thank you for pointing it out.
Not really, as the article says purchasing power has decreased by 8%. Therefore a person's wage does not go as far as it did just 5 years ago - by quite a big amount. Meaning more people are suffering from a cost of living crisis.

You are right though.

Is the situation in the UK really that bad?

I don't think so.

I could be right but on the other hand,- I could be wrong.

The correct answer has always been 'it's OK'. Unless you live in North Korea, Afghanistan or one of those scattered dictatorships around the world (or a theocracy ) that is the same answer for every country

One can make it work just about anywhere if one is smart with one's choices.

Oh no Emperor, we had managed to let this thread rest in peace.#

Now the only answer is to put a stake through its heart.

Honestly, there are some people if you said "Please don't put that fork up your nose", they'd do it just to be contrary.

-Really? Ach hell! I wonder what made me do it....

-Not yet Biggs, it's draining, but it now involves very senior people and Social Services. It'll kill or debilitate me, or it will cure the rotten culture.
But it will take time..

You got that right, but not up my nose.

I admit though, that I would relish the thought of making a very bad impression on 'some people's' mind.

Literally.
