I missed this from our Bee because it was on a different thread.
I had to live near a major airport too because of my job, I now work in Manchester and live Cheshire south of the airport, absolutely beautiful area and a 11 minute drive to work down country lanes, like you say who knows when the kids are older, never say never......
Sounds smashing! Think! driving down those beautiful country lanes to work, how better could it get?

Well folks, just thought I would send an update.
I am moving back to Vegas in July..I must admit, I feel like a fish out of water here and I miss the US..I love this country, and my parents, but I find myself getting very depressed ..
I gave it a try, but I cant live here. I am going back to my old job, and place I lived, and hope to get health insurance through work again.
Anyway, I know this is not everyones experience, and I am honestly surprised that I feel this way, but I have for a few months now..I think I am more American than English now, and I want to go home.
Good luck to everyone else moving back..its not the country, its me..

I was also somewhat surprised.....but not do much as others as I have already lived your journey twice and so it truly does not shock me. Those of us who have lived more than 1/2 of our lives in the USA, we know it is a huge life changing event and maybe we will never fit in back "home". I applaud your courage and not wasting time on regrets. May your health stay in great shape. Once you get on Medicare like me......we are blessed with doctors choices, pick our own specialists, second opinions and very cheap prescriptions with some help from AARP and for us Blue Cross coverage for what Medicare does not cover. I have been recently been diagnosed with a vascular surgeon's error and will have to have five or more different specialists on my team...dermatologist, vascular surgeon, infectious disease specialist, podiatrist, internist, physical therapist and specialist massage therapist. It is do depressing but may have me to remake my life plans.

Fulwood have a great trip, Aries, aw I feel your pain and uncertainty, just keep your eye on the price and read Sallys words. So very true.
Today I went to a party on my street and for the first time told our neighbours I am leaving in 10 weeks, there was lots of shock and horror, been here in the neighbourhood for 10 and half years, we were the second family to move into this neighbourhood, and there is only about 25 homes, we know everyone. It was very hard to tell them I am getting divorced, and leaving, I have watched all the children on this street grow up, mine are the oldest all the others are 12 and under.
I felt sad and got some hugs goodbye from members of the family whose party it was, see they kind of adopted us as we have no family here and we were always invited to all their family do's. It was tough and reality set in for me.
Although I have been very unhappy for a very long time, it will be hard. I am leaving my children behind and many friends, my divorce will be final at the end of July.
I have no idea how I will fair but I have to do this for me. I am 60 later this year, if I dont I feel it will be too late. my mum is 88 not in good health and I want to be with her.
time will tell if I can settle over there without my children, and for those who do not know me so well, I have twin girls almost 19 and a son 20 and a half who do not want to move back to the UK, we have been here 14 years next month.
My one way ticket to home is August 27th.

Well I'm back thanks for the PM Trotty............ I haven't been a lurker in the back ground but I felt obligated to give you all an update. I've just read the last few pages and get the feeling this thread is back on track to the grass roots Trotty laid out which makes me happy. Sorry to hear Jackie is heading back to the USA but what's in her heart she must follow. For myself we are ahead of schedule sold the house in 3 weeks lot of work stagging it but well worth it in the end. We fly out of Toronto direct to Manchester on Aug 14th and land the next day. I've already rented a house for 6 months when we arrive this will give us plenty of time to find a place of our own as the housing market is still very fragile to which direction it's heading so renting is the best option. I what to wish everyone on this thread all the very best and that their dreams come true, for me Wales here we come..

what a huge move this will be for you, with the divorce and everything --- but to echo someone else from way back Anna who made her move to Malta and found a new lease of life,
She called it an adventure and she was 5 years your senior when she left the states about a year and a half ago, and shes still having the time of her life, ----- so thats it just look at this huge move as an adventure, just another chapter in your life, your kids will visit you Im sure, I cant help imagining the beautiful smile on your mums face when she sees you again --- and knowing that this time your home for good
---- my Mum had that smile too when I came home almost 7 months ago ---- and guess what she still does, ----- and me too

Hey thought I would give you all un update...
I posted on here around christmas time that I didnt think I could come home to the UK even though my OH was already living in the UK. I loved my life in Houston so much I just didnt want to come back to the UK...
Well I have been back 6 weeks and love it...We arrived in Heathrow to a beautiful sunny day, as we had to pass a few hours my OH took me to Windsor where we went to a pub right by the river and had a full english breakfast, yum!!
When we went to collect our dog, poor thing was so stressed she was pooping blood, however, after a day she was fine and no worse for her journey. We then spent a few days travelling from London to Scotland visiting friends and family on the way..It was great to be back with everyone, everyone was hugging us and telling us how lovely it was to have us back. My family and my OH family all cried when they saw me, hugged me so much thought they were going to break my bones...LOL..I really didnt know how much my eldery mother had missed me until I saw her, she kept hugging me not like my mom at all...
I had to turn my thoughts to moving back home as if we were moving here for the first time, I guess I was thinking of moving back home and picking up where we left off..Once i got my head around this, its been great...
I have sorted out horse riding lessons, opened up my own company doing bookkeeping, signed up for a course on life coaching. We have a lovely little house 995 sq ft, thought this might be too small but it isnt we have open fields behind us, I have a wonderful view of the hills from my front room and only 10 minute walk to the beach.
Things I have noticed since I came back, people are more polite when driving,service in the restaurants is not as good as Houston but its not bad either. I havent seen any gangs of kids hanging about the streets or the parks. Petrol is expensive it cost me 48 pounds to fill my Skoda Fabia, but you can use the bus, walk or use the train...Council tax is 1800 per year, this includes water rates back in Houston the taxes were over $5,000 a year plus water per month.
Bins are collect every 2 weeks, but our bin is so big its not a problem and they have lots of recycling places that are easy to get to, where we lived in Houston they didnt even do recycling.
What do I miss about Houston....Coffee Mate Ameretto liquid Creamer...LOL...thats it...

Photos were really good Bee and gave a real sense of the place. Lucky you, back to the UK then off to Antwerp in the wink of an eye. Why was it Antwerp? Does the company have its European headquarters there?
