Actually, I didn't investigate because some forums only allow photos from other websites like Webshots so I just accepted it. I will look again, though

This is my girlfriend's house in Scotland. You can see all the snow they have had. Also, I think this must be a new house they bought. They didn't have "new" houses when I lived in Scotland. All were older except the council properties.

I had to put it on my Flickr account and post the URL here. There's no way I can see to embed a photo right in your post here. (I hope this comes through).

The image doesn't seem to embed itself even with the link so I am giving the link too

Lets put it another way, If I ran into the back of a car with your grandkids inside while talking on a cell phone how would you feel then, these accidents happen a lot, they say a cell phone user hands free or otherwise is as dangerous as a drunken driver. Ive noticed some people now pull over to talk, why not.

I've been in a cell phone accident I know how it feels, I was parked on an off ramp in Birmingham UK when a guy in a BMW ran into the back of the car behind me, it did serious damage to that car, my car, a brand new Vauxhall rental was crushed front and rear, the force also bent the backs of the front seats, the two cars in front of me were also damaged, there was blood, injury and crying, but no deaths, the BMW Driver was on his cell phone when he hit us.

Texting is bad but recently I've seen a few people using laptops while driving 55 mph, how could these people live with themselves if they ran into or hurt someone, its just crazy, the laptops are in cradles facing them, Huhhhhhhh.
The hands certainly bother me.....just one on the wheel? Bluetooth is no different than talking to your friends or family in the car with you. One's hands never leave the wheel.

You won't need to have the card in hand - having an ID will allow them to trace your records, and you can be given a new NHS number if needed (I was given a new one, even though I still remembered my old one off by heart - after 23 years).

Hmm, we'll have to wait for the cognitive psychology experts to chime in, but personally, I think talking on the phone (hands-free or not) takes up more cognitive effort than talking with people in the car.

After 15 years in Florida we are going home, the house here is up for sale just need to sell then U.K here we come. I love Florida but DH and I will both be 65 in 2011 and we simply cannot afford the medical, we haven't enough points to get medicare and although we are both in good health at the moment, the prospect of something major happening is scary. We really are looking forward to returning home, all our family are still in the U.K. and we can't wait for the day to come. Yet another adventure for us.
I have been reading through some of the posts and there is lots of info for me to go through.I am making notes as I go through the posts on things like shipping, tax etc. plenty to keep me busy.

Okay, I think it is because Flickr shows a set instead of a single image. Let me put it on Webshots or something similar. I'm determined to get this to work lol!
Nice house especially since it has three chimneys.

It's really flakey! When you "quote" the image it won't show but you will see it if you scroll up.

Once the web came along, I was in clover. We've watched all the big shows over the years and lots of minor ones and I think it does keep you in touch a bit.

But of course there will still be culture shocks I'm sure. Still, I have a few years to prepare so I'd better go and watch some more British TV
Yes like you guys I have ALWAYS kept in touch via TV and radio and papers. I have visited many times over the years since the kids were older (and I worked for an airline ), And before the Internet I used to buy a weekly newspaper religiously, either the UK Mail or the International Express, although I have bought neither for quite some years. And of course I keep in touch with family and friends via email or Facebook.

YET even so it was a culture shock to me, not as big as some are going to have I believe , but a culture shock all the same. Like Rosie says you are coming from another country where you have lived for many years and even though you are "British" things have moved on since 1987 or 1966 or whenever it was you last actually lived there.

I too used to take AGES in the supermarket to shop, examining all the labels so I would be familiar with a tin of beans or a decent packet of soap powder or whatever.

On holiday visits my supermarket flying visits would consist of me getting some goodies to bring back to Australia - Quavers, Galaxy chocolate, biscuits, hair products....etc. But when you have to go and do real live grocery shopping it's a whole different ball game.

Same when I moved to the Lakes and they told me I had Energy 7 radiators I hadn't a clue what that was all about and had to phone the Electric Board for an explanation.

And I don't know how many times I would phone somebody in my family because I just didn't "get it."

So many little daily things that I didn't understand the workings of that sometimes I felt like a fish out of water and a bit lost to be honest. I suppose it made it worse in shops and on the phone because I have such a strong English accent they probably thought I was a bit simple when I didn't have a clue LOL!!

But it is all part of the learning process and it will all click into place like a jigsaw as been said on BE many times, but for anybody expecting to go back and find it is exactly how it was when they left, believe me the UK is NOT stuck in a time warp and you can't just slot back in neatly, YOU have to change to fit back in.

It is indeed, Cheers. Would love to have one like that. That one is in Blairgowrie, Scotland which I believe is about halfway between Aberdeen and Edinburgh.

Actually, the proxy works but there's no way I can dictate which country's proxy I want to use and in this case it has to be a UK proxy. The one I have been using is the Tor/Vidalia proxy.
