I'm pleased that I'm not the only one who believes Betnovate doesn't work, though I expect many other people have success.

I now envy you having a bath, I had mine taken out before the psoriasis returned.

you only mention the cream or lotion the G.P. gave you here, has your G.P. not refered you to a dermatologist yet? where I live they normally start you on some cream and then tell you to come back in two weeks at which time if they see little or no improvement they will refer you to a specialist,
aries one thing I have noticed over here in UK WITH THE DOCTORS IN GENERAL IS YOU do need to be a little pushy with them if they are holding back with there decisons on your continued health care, you do have to stick up for yourself more here and even suggest certain types of treatments that you think may help!!!!
But with my experience with G.P.'s when they are trying to diagnose skin conditions is most of them cant tell the difference between ECZEMA and PSORIASIS cause they are quite simular in the way they look, but of course a dermatologist can tell the difference right away and can treat the right disease with the right treatment, thats why they are specialists and not G.P'S
Now that's a good question about referral to a dermatologist. Last year I was referred to dermatology at the hospital to have a spot removed, but they were not interested in discussing the psoriasis. We seem to have the culture here of one appointment equals one issue.

I think you might be right about having to be pushy, I've read of many instances when patients are fobbed off, and eventually found to have terminal cancer.

You are also right that dermatologists are specialists, not GPs. My last GP in Oz didn't believe a growth over my right eyebrow was anything to worry about, so I went to a private dermatologist. He looked very carefully using a bright light, and immediately arranged an appointment for the growth to be removed. It cost very little using my Medicare card, but even at the full rate it would have been a wise investment.

Stormer. My husbands cousin suffers severe psoriasis. He found the Hanmer thermal baths soothed no-end. Of course, it being summer here in NZ his skin was exposed to the air/ a lot more as the weather was clement . Of course taking great care not to burn.

Anyway , what I am saying is that he felt the baths helped no-end whilst he was here. Not too far from you.
Bevs last year we went up to the springs and I was convinced they did my condition a lot of good. I can remember peeps travelling to the big thermal springs in Iceland and being helped a good deal. I can remember my elbows feeling a little sore after the Hanmer dip a good sign. Any cream that has been devised to help inevitably contains steroidal action, according to my UK GP, only sunshine and old age really helps, I now have both...
Strange how Psoriasis tends to miss out family generations and the reappear, must be terrible for a girl/woman to have to suffer the condition though.
When I went to my NZ GP and asked for a Betnovate prescription he issued me with an alternative newer and more effective Gel called Daivobet. It cleared up my scalp Psoriasis very quickly works well with other areas and is easily applied once a day, good result.

Mainly so we can keep giving overseas aid to the world which amounts to over
£12bn ------ 12 billion pounds every single year, its actually .7 per cent of the GDP so that figure goes up every year, a lot of that money ends up in the hands of crooked leaders of some countries, and a lot is channeled off into buying illegal arms for the terrorists, THAT WAS IN THE NEWS RECENTLY.

Hi Rodney, thanks for asking, yes, we are both well and mostly healthy. Happiness, sure, I can do that.
We will stay in UK, no desire to move back to US or to anywhere else. Might move house or area, but to where we don't know. Maybe the urge to move is an itch that can still be temporarily scratched by taking trips around UK and the world.

Overseas Aid ? I would point the finger at that nonsense called Trident ! scrap it and spend the money on building up conventional defences ! And there would be loads left over for the NHS !

Always lovely to see you pop back in, John. You sound more settled and I am happy to hear that. We plan to be in Norwich by December. I am determined to have a British Christmas this year.

Hi Monique,
I hope you make it back for Christmas. In our 6 yrs back I have known it to be snowing in Norwich at Christmas, but another year to be sunny and warmish.
We will be in Norwich weekend of 17th Dec., maybe we will see you both., that would be nice.
Our Christmas though will be on a river cruise in Germany & France, just for a change.
Best, John & June

We will be sure to let you know when we arrive. I won't mind a bit of snow one bit if it's on offer! A river cruise sounds like a wonderful idea. That's on my bucket list. Best wishes to you both. ~M

What IS going on over there? I'm starting to think I needn't worry about reverse culture shock since the UK has adopted so many of the US's zany habits and crackpot ideas

I fully expect to see TESCO and other supermarkets in Uk selling handguns and automatics. That will complete our Americanisation.
