Re: Mary Queen of Scots
Very interesting. By chance, I was in the British Library on Monday, and among the documents on display there were a couple of letters from Queen Elizabeth relating to Queen Mary. One was in regard to her being moved to Fotheringay and instructed her to be given every comfort & consideration etc. I think there was a letter from Mary to Elizabeth too, enclosing a gift of some embroidery or suchlike. This was only three days ago but I can no longer remember the details, such is life. It's amazing how clear and readable sixteenth century handwriting was/is!
There's also a very good collection of Jane Austen's letters and manuscripts currently on display. It's the two hundredth anniversary of her death this year ....
