From Jura to Bute
On Bute we are welcoming Norman Bissell, author of "Barnhill". The book tells the tale of Eric Blair aka George Orwell and his last days on the isle of Jura, writing "1984". 5 October 2019 at 2 pm in St Pauls Churchgh hall, Rothesay .Free entry, donation requested.

The Orwell Society – Promoting the understanding and appreciation of the life and works of George Orwell
Orwell's son richard Blair and I both live in Argyll and Bute. Little did I thibk 60 years ago when I first found Orwell's writings that one day i would host a talk on "My Father, George Orwell". No talks at the moment because of the contagion but we hope to get back to regular talks.
