He actually does have other attributes but was brought up in an era where most women stayed at home and kept house and looked after hubby who "went out" to work!

So not long to go now!

Well ok then, as long as he is being nice to you or else! I did add onto my previous post so any naughtiness and threaten him with a BE Wife Swop - that will sort him out ha ha ha!!!!

Yes only 4 shifts to go and 14 days in total = hoorah!!!

Well just a wee update for you all, I've been short listed for the paramedic job I really wanted and I have got an interview!

I have to submit a personal statement online first followed by an interview in front of a panel with a presentation followed by a driving test
The interview day is two weeks after I get home so I've got plenty of time to prepare, I'm ecstatic and nervous all at the same time - my tummy is doing somersaults right now!

If you consider that an interview is a two-way exercise and that they also have to impress you, then you can feel on equal terms. You are already a professional and don't need to be quaking and shaking like a rookie.

As for the driving, you're in the lap of the gods on British roads

Yes, but at least the Australians drive on the same side of the road as the UK.

I'm quite new on the BE boards, but I have followed this thread with great interest. I want to say WELL DONE for securing your interview, Miss Betty. I wish you all the best when the time comes and also for your move back to the UK. Also, I adore the link you posted to the list of 'Things You'll Laugh at if you're British' -- hilarious! Thanks. Every laugh is welcome!

I have only six days left till I move home from Hong Kong (eek). Things were going fairly smoothly, albeit with a plethora of swinging emotions (predictable and unpredictable), until I was struck with a nasty eye infection which has 'gone systemic'. (Never had 'eye trouble' in my life.) I had to resort to a GP visit and have now been bombarded with 'antibiotic everything' in an effort to kill the hell out of this before my flight. NOT the final week I had in mind, but I need to batter on with final arrangements and preparations and all the rest regardless.

Usually, but look at the oversize trucks at about 2 minutes into this video.

Hello everyone, not been on here for for few days and just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for all the kind wishes!

Unfortunately atm the bullying has intensified and the person(s) concerned had actually printed off copies of my Facebook page and handed them in. Big Boss has now actually stepped in and said enough is enough and told them unless they all want to face a charge of bullying and harrassment to back off.

They are not going to do anything as the comments were mainly joking and I'm gone in 2 weeks time however after 5 awful years here its taken its toll and I have been signed off work with stress for my final shifts. Not the way I wanted it to end but I need to protect myself as I can't give the bullies a chance to ruin any future employment prospects as I'm finding it very hard not to lash out both verbally and physically.

The weird thing is that the girl who has been the instigator of all this is a young uni grad who wants to work in the UK. I've helped her write her CV, set up a CPD folder and given her advice on how to apply to a UK service. She told my senior manager she was offended by my comments and felt the need to report them. He actually turned round to her and told her he thought her behaviour was despicable and she should be whiter than white in future as he wouldn't forget her treatment of an officer with a perfect service record who was due to leave in two bloody weeks. Hopefully karma will do its thing!

Anyways thanks again for all your kind messages, I will be out of this awful place in 11 days never to return just going to try and relax now and look forward to a bright future. Cheers everyone

How dreadful. Sounds like my stepmother Do everything for them and then they turn around and stab you in the back Horrible that you are going through this lay off for stress - but maybe the break will give you a chance to unwind before going home. Thinking of you love. Hang in there. Not long now, and you'll be eating fish and chips and drinking a beer in your favourite watering hole, and laughing all about it with your mates
