Well now the good news just keeps coming! A friend of mine from Adelaide phoned me today, we met in South America on a trip and have been friends for years and we have met up with each other for holidays all around the globe!
My last 4 days here I was just going to stay at my boss's house (which will be empty) and I wouldn't be able to go anywhere as I don't have a car but, hey, no real drama. So my friend has just told me that she booked a flight and a hire car weeks ago as a surprise and she is coming up to stay with me for my last weekend! I just got a surprise cheap deal on wotif.com for us in Cairns and now we are spending 4 nights in the most AMAZING luxury 5 star hotel!
I shall look forward to lazing by the pool, drinking cocktails and just plain chillin out with my lovely friend before I fly back to Blighty

That sounds AWESOME, and so well deserved. Enjoy the lovely sunshine, sitting by the pool and drinking those cocktails because it will probably still be raining by the time you get back

Ok so today I'm not coming to you from Loony Town I am coming to you from Grumpy Land and I need to RANT - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

As you all know I am living in work accommodation which is great as I have no bills to pay but its really starting to wear thin. My boss has been away for two months so I've been flitting between here and a house sit and all has been well.
Now he is back and he stays here with me when he is working and I am on days off - this week has been a total mare. I am grateful to have somewhere to stay BUT it seems I have fallen into the trap of being chief cook/cleaner and bottle washer which is making me very tetchy! Yes he lets me stay here BUT the house is owned by the service so he's not paying any bills either.
The past week I have done all the shopping, all the cleaning and all the cooking - he has not put his hand in his pocket once. Yes he is working but when I am on duty I work just as hard and I have no one here to look after me!
Last night I cooked a meal (with food I'd bought) and baked a chocolate cake for dessert. He scoffed it all down and then passed out in the recliner snoring his head off - something he does every single night even though I have asked him so many times to please just go to bed as I can't hear the telly over his snoring! Was so fed up I just went to bed at 9pm!
This morning I got up to find all the dirty dishes still in the sink and his dessert plate and coffee cup STILL sitting on the side. Well it can bloody well stay there, last time I checked this wasn't Downton Abbey and I am NOT wearing a maid's outfit!!!!
What with leaving the toilet seat up, shaving and leaving the sink in a mess, using up stuff and not replacing it, leaving clothes all over the floor, never replacing the loo roll and constant snoring I can fully understand now why a) women want to just stab their husbands! and b) why I am not (thank God!) married lol!
I hate this SO much, I just want to be back in my own home, looking after me and doing what I want when I want - 18 days and counting, just keep me away from the kitchen knives...................

Oh no, you sound a bit like WhoFan did before she left!
Where did I ever find such as gem as my OH, I wonder? He will cook, clean, do the washing up and the laundry after a full days work if it was needed, and never a complaint comes from his lips. I feel for you sweetie. It's bad enough having to clean up your own mess. You don't need to do someone else's too. Not too many sleeps left! Hang in there - soon you'll be back home and this will all be a distant memory

Funny thing is, since I posted my rant I went into the kitchen and made myself tea and toast mid morning, he was passed out (snoring as usual FFS!) in the chair but woke up just as I was sitting down to eat. He said "Oh did you make tea?" I just raised one eyebrow and said "Yes, and very nice it is too, the kettle has just boiled!" He hesitated but then realised the air was a bit 'frosty' so got up and made himself a cuppa.
We chatted about things and then he sipped his tea and said "Hmmmm, did you put sugar in this?" I stared coolly back and said "How should I know seeing as you actually made your own cup of tea for the first time this week?" He actually blushed lol! I then rinsed my plate and cup and returned (make that flounced lol!) to my room. The washing up is still sitting there from last night and there it shall stay

Even though he is a) gay and b) not my husband he has taken the route taken by all sensible men when faced with a raging tiger of a female - he has beaten a hasty retreat lol! I peeked out the window and he is sitting on his computer in the office typing away. Maybe he is paying the bills or maybe he is ranting on BossWorld about me - who knows? I'm starting to see the funny side of it all!
P.S. The washing up is still sitting there ha ha ha!!!

Aaaah Miss Betty, i am quickly coming to the conclusion that you are truly a lady of substance. Not to be trifled with nor cast usunder.
I am reminded of a certain female relative of mine who when asked what she thought of men and women being equal her reply was: "no, they (men) don't deserve it"
Take a deep breath, think of pork pies, mushy peas and a pint, breath out.
Thinkin only kind thoughts of ya kiddo.......

His own home is spotless but I'm afraid he is the youngest of 5 and the only boy and he has been spoilt! I've met his Mum and she is lovely but she does everything for him, waits on him hand and foot. I am not the help - today I think he has learnt that lol!

lol!! I laughed when I read this!! Good for you in sticking to your guns and not doing all the work for him. It is disrespectful to you!
Just keep your thoughts focused on "going home"!!!

Tonight he rang me to say he was out in town, at the shops and did I want a nice chicken dinner bought home? I am pleased that he is being more thoughtful, either that or he can't face another night and day of the silent treatment whilst withering under my baleful glare, I graciously accepted his offer with a polite thank you.
He is now in his chair, I am in mine and we are watching a movie. The washing up is still sitting on the side though. I'm still not doing it and if he leaves tomorrow and leaves the dishes in the sink I am going to throw them all in the bin along with the mugs and cutlery!!!

I had a similar problem when I was doing a summer course at Essex University, I was in one of the halls of residence, and most of the others there were young people doing prep courses prior to going to university, they used all the pots and dishes and left them dirty in the kitchen, I just used to wash what I needed, and left the rest, eventually someone else got fed up as well and left a big notice in the kitchen, the pots were all washe dand put away, and the build up never happened again.
