That felt good!

Sent my first 'advance party' airmail box off this morning. Some winter clothes and winter sports gear and my triathlon wetsuit. Next week's package will be some cycling accessories (taking one bike with me on the plane and two will be on the container).

Even though I haven't put my notice in yet it's all starting to feel pretty real now.

Yeah it really must feel good.

We are in the process of picking things up and going "shall we take this or just sell it?" - hard work!

Though we did find some excellent luggage canvas type case/bags that weigh only around 7 pounds each! So that means we can take lots more stuff home!

:p

Happy Monday folks

Have you totally recovered from your accident? And if so, are you back in full training on the bike and running again?

Not totally Jules but on the mend thanks. I'm allowed back in the gym now and allowed on the indoor trainer on the road bike but not allowed on the road due to vibrations/shock etc. I'm not allowed any TT type positioning at all.

I've been going for about 2.5 weeks now. When I started I could only hold 45 mins flat on the computrainer at the gym @ 120 watts. But now I'm up to 1hr alpine hills and averaging 176 watts. Swimming has gone from 200mtrs up to about 400mtrs plus, but it's painful. I do two timed 50 mtrs at each session and times have dropped from 2mins30 (yes really!) down to 1.30, so I'm making progress there as my ROM improves.

Treadmill has gone from walk only to 5mins walk, 5 mins run, but it's very slow at 9.2kph and I can only hold this walk/run for 35-40mins.

I have been experiencing some rib pain that I thought was all done and dusted, so I suspect backing off the run will settle things down. I can't reach the bars on the indoor trainer at home on the roadbike as it hurts my ribs, so it's all gym work.

I've pretty much written the rest of the year to re-hab and when back in the UK will target some races for next year. I have an eye on a race called The Norseman which is in Norway, but will depend on recovery.

Hey!!! This is pretty good training and puts some of my own training to shame. I train several times a week and train to a pretty demanding level but nothing to the level of what you do though.

Anyway, don`t over do it and think of next season now.

The Vuelta starts very soon as well.

The norsemen is truly hardcore - it would get you fairly committed to your recovery training!

I was just giggling reading your thread about moving back to UK - and that the first thing you've sent back is some tri-gear... who says we triathletes are obsessed.

Hehe yeah it does look a bit err, daunting:unsure: Have you done it? I would definitely be a white shirt finisher. The big problem is I have to enter Oct/Nov and can't 100% say that I'll be recovered enough. So fall back plan is Norseman in 2011 and Wimbleball 70.3 and Forestman or Outlaw (both full iron distance) in 2010.

But would truly, truly love to think I could do Norseman next year.:fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed:

Oh and you're definitely right about triathletes.

Chrissie Wellington got to hear about my big accident through a mutual friend and sent me pic and a friend lent me his IMOZ 2000 medal as he had a horrendous accident in 99 and thought he'd never race again. How about that for inspiration.:D
