Heartbeat is on TVOntario but they are in reruns for the summer at the moment. I'm looking forward to them picking up where they left off come the fall.
Heartbeat ran for something like 18 seasons; ITV3 airs it here daily in the afternoons and I never tire of it. The Royal only lasted 2 or 3 years and currently airs right after Heartbeat in the afternoon. I love them both and lucky enough to have had them both right on my own doorstep once upon a time. Here's a couple of happy memories from last summer's outings:

Heartbeat and The Royal are two of my favorite UK shows - delightful! None of the heavy stress of the programs that are staged in more modern times.

I also like Lewis and Morse.

Sorry, this is a bit off topic - movie instead of TV. Just saw Saving Mr. Banks. Just lovely. I really think Emma Thompson should have taken the Oscar for her performance. Tom Hanks as Walt Disney wasn't so bad either. Mary Poppins is my favourite movie of all time, and this has just added another wonderful dimension to it.

Just seen that 'The Crimson Fields' hasn't been renewed for a second season.

Rather surprised to hear that too. It ended so abruptly that for weeks after we were still looking for more episodes, thinking it had not yet ended. Was so sure another season was in the works. Must have had poor ratings.

I have heard there is a "major" event called "The World Cup" on at the moment. Seems to be popular with some. If it interferes with Corrie, I will not be impressed.

We've found the same thing too - nothing much to watch on the iplayer! Having said that, we did come across a documentary on John Thaw on ITV player that is worth watching if you were a fan of his.

Instead we've been exploring all the other viewing options we have: Netflix UK, Netflix US, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Prime. Still blows my mind that with all this we still pay a fraction of what we were paying to have cable.

What is that documentary called? Sounds interesting.

Yes, will have to go over to my Netflix which I haven't been using much lately. I still haven't bitten the bullet and cancelled cable. Must do that soon!

I actually did watch a couple of games (like I said... desperate times) but it's no fun when England loses. I'm not a soccer fan at the best of times and only a very fair weather fan right now... one more loss and that's it! I shall give up.

It's called The John Thaw Story. Yes, I would ditch the cable. I bet you won't even miss it.

I've been thinking the same thing. I've watched all the Escape to the Country programs, all Miss Marple, all Lewis and Morse - at least all the free ones.

I do keep up with Coronation Street and watch the occasional movie, too.

It seems they are going to "pay" shows now because there are less and less that are free, it seems - or perhaps I feel that way because I have watched everything already!

I haven't had cable for three years. It was just not worth paying for and so expensive really.

I watch what I can find on my computer - Hulu, BBC and ITV iPlayers.

I am not a big TV viewer anyway and I can usually find something to watch.

It's actually fairly common for the summer months to have less new stuff on telly here in the UK - the lighter evenings mean more people are outside more. New shows won't kick in until September at the earliest. And as someone has pointed out we have the World Cup at the moment - which only occurs every 4 years - which that is taking some telly time - and the soaps are arranging themselves around the televised games.

And next week Wimbledon starts - and I for one can't wait
