In Wales, prescriptions are free. However that does lead to abuse of the system.... People visiting doctors for prescription for paracetemol that you can buy for 16p in Tesco etc..

Agreed! My employer offers an HMO plan for a family with a monthly premium of $485 and co pay is $30 for each in network visit, $50 for specialists and $150 for an ER visit. I have a prescription that I take which costs $25 for the generic and $120 for the brand. I never understood why, if you are paying such a high premium you should also be paying a co-pay for every visit and then prescriptions. Having 2 kids in school can add up with colds, pink eye, ear infections. Luckily hubby's insurance with the Feds is much better, although to me the whole 'industry' is more about money that people's welfare.

And just how many do you think will actually fall into that bracket? You need to be talking marginal rates, as these are a far more accurate indicator.

I didnt know prescriptions were free in Wales, how is that? So many differences between these places.

The Welsh Assembly picks up the bill thanks. They take care of their own health care as they are devolved..

Well they have a certain budget- they choose how to use it, likewise the English healthcare budget.

I take it your thoroughly for Scottish devolution seeing as it's taking up "English" money?

No, I'm staunchly opposed to both Scottish devolution and independence.

I think the UK is too expensive to move back to! When people ask me about the UK here like the price of gas and stuff. They wonder how on earth i afforded to live there.

Also the UK is nothing at all like it was 50 years ago. the customer service has long gone from that country

Genuinely mystifies this comment. The only thing I agree with is that gas is cheaper but since you have to use way more to live in Canada then it all evens out. We only just moved from the UK in January, and I think Ontario is every bit if not more expensive than living in the UK.

Hydro/propane/satellite/internet/mobile phones/food/car insurance ... All very expensive here than back home.
