My summary in 4 lines said it better. LOL No that was a good article not too many Americans signing up for it.
I hope I can get it in the next 6 weeks. So I can take a side trip to KL. My luck though it will come when were on the way home end of May So I'll have to make a special trip next year.

[QUOTE=Tropic;12651697 "A letter of good conduct (for the applicant) has been a requirement since 2002, it acts as the first line of defence," a Police Special Branch official told The Straits Times. "But we are stricter now due to heightened security threats such as terrorism and (criminal) syndicates, and we wouldn't want these people to jeopardise public order."
The official did not elaborate but the Malaysian authorities regularly uncover crime syndicates involved in illegal casinos, betting games and financial scams led by foreign nationals. There are also worries over money laundering, with foreign dirty cash parked in housing units.[/QUOTE]
Just wonder how many MM2H applicants have been rejected or recipients arrested or deported because of these matters. It would seem to me that the money and effort involved in obtaining an MM2H visa vs. a work visa (using a front), Social Visit visa, student visa or tourist pass would make it far more likely that these would be used vs. an MM2H. You can set up an on-line gambling, or other scam virtually anywhere, Certainly China doesn't want money walking out of the country...they would much prefer to keep it invested in their own hyper-inflated housing bubble. But are these people criminals under Malaysian law?

Hi RA,
That's a good question I can't imagine it's that many? I'd love to see the numbers. And if they are rejected how did they know they belonged to a crime syndicate? Did they call the mafia and ask them if they belonged to that crime boss? Do you advertise your illegal casino? LOL I am sure there some red flags that they can use to deny the application. I am sure legitimate aren't too hard too see. Family with kids retired govt pension etc etc. Should move through fairly easy to approval.

Ok yeah I read something about that before. Someone said I should get the visa from the embassy here before we go there. I think either way the cost will be about the same. Buy the visa before we come. Or pay the fee there?

And it is not about the money, it is also about the hassle. Make sure you are not outside the country when your first visa ends, Journey Performed again, you are out of the visa thing FOREVER.
To keep it simple, if you are Non-Commonwealth don´t even think about going to Malaysia with the tourist stamp and wait here for MM2H approval.

Depends on nationality, 506 is the minumum I guess. And it is per person. And if you cheated one time and entered Malaysia with the tourist stamp instead of the correct visa with reference none of your family can get this visa anymore. So a family with two kids that also want to put the grandparents on MM2H -> RM 3000++ gone.

I don't doubt what you're saying, but I can't find an official government website that outlines the rules surrounding the Journey Performed requirements. If you know of one, please let's have the link. I found a PDF on the imi.gov.my site that lists the JP fee by country, but that's all.

Re: Retiring in Malaysia - Malaysia My Second Home Visa (MM2H)
So are you saying that receiving a visa with JP prevents the recipient from adding or having others on the MM2H visa? I'd also like to see the documentation on that. I know of couples that were on a "partner" MM2H and one arrived on the tourist visa - paid the JP- and the partner had no issue getting on the MM2H. You mention that "so many people have fallen into this trap"...can you provide a link to the thread where this has happened?

There is no link or thread, ask anybody who got trapped, there are so many. By the way it is all the same with the working visas.

According to the Embassy website being a US citizen I get the VISA on Arrival as I have done before. So I can't even find a form to apply for a VISA here in the USA.
So arriving after your MM2H is approved I'll have to pay a journey performed fee. After having to pay the 10 yr visa fees?
