MM2H - returning to the UK
Hello,
I am doing a research looking into the reasons why Brits who went to Malaysia under the MM2H programme decided to return to the UK for good. I am an academician attached with one of the Malaysian universities and am currently on sabbatical leave in the UK. I would therefore like to take the opportunity while I am still here to meet up with these people for face-to-face interviews.

Hi Abdul. I'm not sure if people who have gone back to the UK will still be looking in on this forum but let's hope they are. Personally, I would be surprised if people make this decision for the same reasons except for those who go back because they miss their family as they get old. Anyhow I hope you manage to get in touch with some ex-expats who can help in your research.

Many thanks for the quick response InvinoVeritas. I am sure you are right in saying that the motives for returning to the UK would be varied, which is what would make the study so interesting. Just for your information, I conducted a research a few years back on the motives of foreigners for adopting the MM2H programme. Their motives for doing so were also varied.

At the top right of the screen, under your name you will see Private Messages just click on it and you can send a message which does not show on the forum. You can send a URL in the message but I don't think you can send attachments.

Re: MM2H - returning to the UK
Hi, I have lived for nearly 6 years in Malaysia under the MM2H program and will move next year, not to the UK but to Thailand. I will not elaborate on my motives here but if you are interested send me a PM.

Hi Rashid and welcome to the forum.
I know of a few folks who have left the MM2H programme to return back to the UK. I think you will probably find a lot of different reasons.
Those with close family ties in the UK will quite often return. I know of one British lady who returned last year. She had some health problems and she wanted to be near her son in the UK.
i know of another British couple, younger MM2Hers in their 40s, who moved back to UK this year. I think they were just moving on to try something else. It's a bit different when you're younger.
It seems to me that there's still a steady flow of new MM2Hers arriving....at least in Penang.
