triage

I'm currently working in KL in an employer sponsored work permit/employment pass. I'm about to resign from that job and apply for mm2h.

Does anyone have any experience or advice for this situation?

I assume I'll need to get the employment pass cancelled, pay up my tax and leave the country. Anything stopping me immediately re-entering on a tourist visa?

I'm not sure you even have to leave the country. If you don't get any response on here, I would phone up the MM2H office and get the official word.

There was a guy on the old my2home forum who did exactly what you are proposing and I believe he didn't have any problems. He used to work in KL, then retired, then applied for MM2H. This was way back when it was still the Silver Hair programme. Unfortunately, don't think he posts on this forum.

I agree with BB that your MM2H agent would now if you have to leave.

But maybe the talent - resident pass would be an alternative in case you change your mind and would like to work again. You shoud get more info at this link: https://www.expats.com.my/rp/new/html/
