Hello.
Does anyone know if there is an upper age limit for applying for mm2h.
​Are there any elderly people who apply successfully.

What is your definition of "elderly people".
I'm 65 ,with the MM2H.
Call me old and you'll be in BIG trouble ;)

At what age did you apply?
I am 77 and wonder if mm2h would consider approving an application.
If it is too old it would not be worth the hassle of the application procedure.

I am 74 and renewed lat year w/o problems. I don't think there is any upper age limit, why should there be??
Remember one has to pass a health exam.

I thought over a certain age the health insurance requirement was waived.
Do you need a health check with a local doctor or is it just a declaration form?

You need an examination to be done at any registered clinic, it is normally a very simple procedure, takes some 5 minutes and doesn't cost much.
No need to go to a hospital which will throw the full book at you with x-rays, blood tests, etc. at high costs.
The doctor needs to sign and stamp an official form.
I have attached the latest version of it. You fill in part I & II, the doctor then does part III and you are done.

Regarding online only application, I have no idea what the rules are.
Being lazy, I used an agent for my application and renewal.

I think that the health check is mainly for looking for the presence of illegal drugs and communicable diseases.

If you look they will have the following tests: VDRL (Syphilis), TPHA (Hep-A), Has Ag B (Hep B), Antibody HIV I & II, Malarial Parasites, and Urine for Opiates and Cannabinoids.

They'll also look at whether you may have TB via a Chest X-Ray. Any of these could cause issues with acceptance.But not because you are ill...because it signals something about you risk to the population. Some of the sexually transmitted diseases are treatable and the antibody tests will flatten out over time. The same is true for the drugs. I've had malaria, before. They look for active parasites, not for immune responses. If you've been treated and haven't had a recurrance for years it likely will not show up. Ditto for dengue.

The definition of a "Prohibited Person" [Imigran-imigran Larangan : Seksyen 8, Akta Imigresen 1959/63] re. this issue (and not a half dozen other forbidden classes- prostitutiom, vagrancy, pimping, member of a terror group, etc.):

"Any person suffering from a brain injury has a mental disability, or has a contagious disease that makes his presence in Malaysia harmful to the community."

They don't have a test for mental illness, just a "self determination". They also ask about diabetes mellitus and heart disease on the self evaluation form though I don't know why these would make you a prohibited person rather than a potential cash cow.

There'll be sundry other tests for kidney function and urinary tract infections. But these would not likely be prohibitive. In fact, if there is an issue you could say that your discussion with the doctor showed a treatable condition that wasn't noticed before. "Glad we caught it early...I can take advantage of the Health Tourism and great facilities here in Malaysia".

Oh and there may be one more exclusion...if you are in such bad straits that you need a gurney. The doctor makes one of four assessments (Borang RB II Form)...1) Healthy/disease free 2) "Not Very Healthy but not suffering from any contagious or infectious disease"3) Not healthy and "suffering from a contagious or infectious disease which makes his/her presence a danger to the community" and 4) "Not healthy and unfit for a (sic) long distance travel and chances or (sic) recovery is very slim."

Presuming you arrived here and are not on last legs #4 would not likely apply. It's #3 that they are worried about.

You can get the Health Check done on the cheap, and some clinics will offer one for RM50...but they may live something out or require you to go to another clinic for the Xray. I'd suggest one get a full diagnostic that includes the Xray. That should be between RM130-170. Sometimes Immigration will accept the check even if it doesn't include one test (remember that they are mainly looking for contagious diseases or evidence of drug abuse). But better be on the safe side. If they don't know what the MM2H Health Screening is probably they'll know what the Employment Health Screening is. They should be the same.

In Sarawak the Immigration Department requires a Government authorized facility certify the tests. An added step.

There is nothing about X-ray in the form and we were not x-rayed.
Nor did the doctor draw any blood or other body fluids.
We jsut filled in our part with the rlevant tick-maks and the doctor did his part.
It took some 10 minutes.

I guess it depends on the doctors and Immigrations interpretation. The physician is told that they must affirm that there is no sign of Communicable or Infectious Disease. They are presented with a list that you have affirmed (Part II), that includes TB, HIV, Hep A&B, Diabetes, etc. As a government registered doctor they may have instructions from the government as to what the Ministry of Immigration requires.

Admittedly, I am in Sarawak, but I used advice/experiences from British Expats and other sources as to what was required and actually had the first clinic/doctor just do the minimum. Paid only RM20 and they thumped my knee, looked at my eyes and ears, used a stethoscope to measure my pulse, and tested my blood pressure. Like Gunnar45 there was no blood/urine test or chest X-Ray. Got it stamped by the doctor and included that in my application package. While going through the documents to see if it was complete the immigration officer said "This Health Check is insufficient...It must include Blood & Urine Test and Chest X-Ray." So off I went again.

Maybe it's different on the Peninsula? But can imagine not sending in a "proper" Health Check and having your application rejected, requiring an additional trip back to a doctor and immigration in Putrajaya. Has anyone had that experience? Do agents make sure that the Exams are more complete?

What i am actually interested in are the fees charged by gp's and specialists.
We both have high blood pressure and need occasional check ups.
