Vanuatu in the 1970s

I don't know if there's much interest in any aspect of life forty years ago in what was then The New Hebrides, or even in what is now called Vanuatu at all. But, for anybody who is interested, I have just posted on my blog a short piece of 700 words called "A wedding to attend" about the old British jail and its residents. In the piece, I mentioned two earlier posts - one containing a couple of paragraphs on Bislama (the local pidgin), the other a brief rundown of the bizarre local constitutional codes that existed then. I've also blogged about the British Hospital as it was then, "Phoning Princess Margaret" in September 2013.

Again, not for everybody, but this is the Rest of the World section, so here you are - something different, offered with affection for a place that we enjoyed very much.
