Trying to Ship a Car From Cape Town to UK

Hi All

I am looking for some advice on shipping a classic Ford from South Africa to anywhere in UK (On a budget so cheapest port)

been quoted £2k (Container) from Cape Town to Swindon
or £1600 from Durban to UK...(RO/RO)

I even put an ad on Gumtree Cape Town,(long shot but worth a try) to see if anyone was moving back to UK or even mainland Europe (I would get cheap flight and drive car back to Glasgow) to see if anyone had got a 40foot container and I would split costs if the car could be squeezed in ...I know ..its cheeky but hey if you don't ask:p
...the chap im buying from is happy to hold onto the car until I can find some way of getting her back:nod:.....thing is @ £2k shipping ..once I factor in price of car ...and getting her back to Glasgow...its not really worth my while.......a chap out in Cape Town did whatsapp me to say he would try to speak to shippers etc .....any thoughts??.....
cheers
Dave

Hi Egon
Having investigated all angles, I found that the
Best best is to use the roll on roll off ferry in Durban, I was quoted $1250 from a shipping company but I had to appoint an agent at both ends...I.e. Durban agent was approx. R5000 (£300) And the UK agent was around £200 , plus your 5% import fee if car is a classic...but double check that
hope this helps
Cheers
Dave

Good day Dave
Can I confirm that you car shipping is complete and your vehicle is enroute to the UK? May I be cheeky and ask which company offered you these quotes. The price seems pretty fair and I'll like to get the ball rolling.
Thanking you in advance for your kind assistance
Regards Egon

You might want to consider roll on roll of shipping if that is available there much cheaper than container
