help please on one way flight to india

Does anyone know whether it is possible to travel to India with a six month visitor's visa on a one-way ticket? Would there be any problems getting in the country with no return ticket?
Thanks

It would be best to have an onward ticket to a nearby destination eg. Nepal, Sri Lanka, Dubai etc. if you're worried.

I recently had a visit to India but at Delhi international airport and the domestic airports they didn't once check if I had an onward destination - but if your ethnicity is South Asian or Middle Eastern then perhaps they do check more carefully?

I've never tried to buy a ticket to India, but in my experience it is usually as cheap, if not cheaper to buy a return ticket than a one-way one.
