My Dad lived and worked there for a little while. Not sure what information you are after. he said it is a little depressing with all the problems the country is facing. HIV, not enough doctors and nurses, etc. Malaria etc. are on the rise. If you can handle corruption, diseases that you have never even heard of and a very different working mentality you should be ok. Ghana is in the tropics so very hot, humid and 2 wet seasons. The nature is very tropical. I would only move there if I was a doctor or could do sth. very beneficial for the country. Certainly not a country you would move to to have an easier life....

Re: Going to live in Ghana

its one of the nicest african countries, safe with nice people, but it is poor, hot, dusty, full of traffic and unaesthetic. if one hasn't lived in africa or developing countries, it could be a shock. suggest u visit first and ensure employer provides good housing, ideally near Osu, main resturant area.

good luck.

Did a six month contract in Sierra Leone (next door)

Dont expect any creature comforts - like running water, electricity or decent food.

Do expect hepititus, aids, cockroaches bigger than mice and to get the shits. Take plenty of toilet paper.

Poverty in W Africa is severe.

However the locals, although very poor, are generally friendly and polite.

Have fun
