Running a Business in Ireland
Does anyone here run a ltd company in Ireland?
We are looking to relocate our UK based business with 3 employees 2 GB and 1 EU citizen out of the UK.
After doing lots of thinking I m of the opinion that Ireland would be a good option as this would allow us to remain trading as part of the EU which is what we would like to do post Brexit.
We would need a small industrial unit for manufacturing and some office space

Sure but it helps if you provide more detail about why you need to leave the UK and so on.
For instance you specify that you want to remain an EU business so Ireland is attractive - that seems completely at odds with a NZ move? How in your case will the business objectives square?

Sure but it helps if you provide more detail about why you need to leave the UK and so on.

We have all been head scratching and thinking where we would like to be and where is sensible to be. One of our group would favour NZ but the ability to remain EU based would be very useful. I think on balance Ireland is a better option. Small bespoke manufacturing business with customers globally.

From what you have described, Ireland would probably be the better option. If you have customers globally that means distribution and not sure you need the astronomical distances involved in reaching American and European customers from NZ. Don't underestimate just how remote NZ is. Tokyo is actually a shorter flight from London than Auckland; and Auckland is only 2 hours closer to Singapore than London is. The logistics of a Dublin move are far simpler and cheaper and if maintaining an EU corporate address is important, it seems obvious which option you should choose. Unless there is some major overriding business reason to go to New Zealand, I think you are really taking on potentially a lot of hassle and headache.

I agree and the rental cost of industrial property seems very reasonable in Ireland and there seems to be lots of it. I assume the tax system PAYE etc is going to be very similar to the UK.
