Tell me about your healthcare experiences please?

Hi,

I know healthcare is not free in Ireland unless you have a card but I wondered if people could tell us about their experiences with healthcare in Ireland and maybe answer some questions.

How does healthcare operate for Brits in Ireland?

The healthcare card is means tested and if we were residents there with a property would we get one if our income was below the limit or do you have to have worked there for a certain amount of time?

I am not after taking from the Irish state, I would be buying a small property and I work from home, not a high income but one to get buy and my taxes would be paid in my country of residence.

I dont know how much health insurance would be but I imagine on my income it would be perhaps too much money.

I would appreciate any info and any solutions.
Thanks in advance
