Question Taking car from UK to Ireland

Hi
I'm new to this part of Britsh Expats, so forgive me if this question has been dealt with.

We're just waiting for completion on our house purchase. We have a removals company in place for all our household rubbish, but my head is spinning trying to find out how to take our car. Looking at the government website it's all about PBNs and MRNs but I can't find the necessary forms - and let's face it - there's got to be some somewhere! I've printed off the 8 (!) pages for Transfer of Residence, which is basically an application for exemption of import charges and VRT, but I'm now stuck.

Has anyone on here done this - post Brexit?

I'm not naive enough to assume one can just drive onto a ferry and off the other end, and away into the sunset.....if only.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

I think you might be able to just do that. However you'll be needing to change your insurance provider in a few months after settling down in Irland.

Correct me here, others who may know different.
