Sex for rent issues in Dublin

I've heard that landlords asking for sex for either a reduced rent or no rent seems to be happening in Dublin.
I'ts just disgusting reading this, however in Dublin's rental market this doesn't really surprise me at all.

Yep and nothing new there. The only difference is that people now use WhatsApp, so you can post the history in social media, but it can also be fake: Even RTL in Germany did a programme with hidden camera in 2016, as there were many cases in Germany where landlords offered apartments for sex.

The same was already happening in the early 2000's in the US, but I'm sure it's always happened.

True, however it's the first time I've read about it in an Irish newspaper about it happening in Ireland.

Now you mention it, how does the tax office treat such an arrangement? Not that I have the slightest interest in such matters you understand.

I would expect the tax-man to require the landlord to report the value of the service rendered in exchange for the accommodation. Precisely how much that service is worth, though... Hmmm. It might depend on several factors that one would rather not explore on this forum.

Sounds like these landlords need services found in special districts of Amsterdam or Frankfurt. Leave these poor renters alone. They certainly have enough worries!

In a world where money is falling in value (prices going up, bank interest rates down to almost zero), some assets manage to retain their values. What most women have in the way of physical assets do hold their value, and can readily be exchanged for things they want - food, comfort and a place to live... It's simple economics, I'm afraid.

Why drag women in to all this?

Even known renting sites, some apartments description includes “renter must be open minded”... Yeeesh, wonder what that means.
Its really degrading and quite scary as a young female myself landlords are looking for this even on “credited” apps etc..

I really, really don't think this is the first time it's ever happened in Ireland. Or anywhere else in the entire world. I mean, come on!

Speaking as a man, if an (attractive) property owning lady were hypothetically to offer me a free home and lodgings in exchange for mandatory physical relations of the fun kind, I would find it awkward to decline. Where precisely do I find these degrading adverts and do they include photos of the potential offenders? Just asking for a friend.
