Default Irish financial requirement for nonEU spouse

Hi,

Can anyone clarify the Irish financial requirement for a nonEU spouse to reside with an Irish citizen in Ireland.

On the INNIS website it appears that the financial requirement is dependent on the method of entry to Ireland.

Spouse or civil partner of an Irish national

However, I have seen other info which mentions no financial requirement and read other forums which say the financial requirement applies to everyone.

So I'm quite confused.

I know the requirement (40k over 3 years) is not excessive but providing the paperwork could be a problem.

Thanks for any help.

ps. I realise this is a British expat site, not Irish. I am British with dual Brit/Irish citizenship. Looking at options

Thanks mate.

I'm sure that's where I saw someone say that the requirement applied across the board.

Yet this article makes no mention of a financial requirement at all:

All of which, together with the info on INIS, is why I am confused.

I might just email INIS about it.

Thanks anyway though.

I emailed INIS about this. It was a simple enough question. A yes or no answer would have sufficed.

But of course they do not answer queries directly, but rather offer you cut n pastes and links to their website, all of which lead you back to the same information that you are querying.
