Hopefully someone here can just clarify something in my mind. My car here in the UK is still under HP and I'm not going to pay it off just to bring it with me when I move to Ireland (It has no sentimental value at all) and I'll be moving on again after a year or so.
If I buy a 2nd hand car in Ireland, do I pay VRT? I'm pretty convinced it's just for imports but I just need to be sure in the old noggin before I hand the current one back.

If you buy an Irish registered car the VRT has already been paid when the car was sold first time when new.
