Zermatt- hotel recommendation

We are planning a ski vacation in Zermatt next winter. Want a hotel with
alpine character. Does not need to be top tier... just authentic and friendly.
No brocade. Stayed in Wengen last year at the Alpenrose. Loved it. Need
equivalent in Zermatt.

Email replies as well as post please!

Re: Zermatt- hotel recommendation

Try the Welschen Hotel. Its a 3 star that sits on a rise overlooking the
town and the Matterhorn. It is owned by the Welschen family and is only a 10
minute walk from the station and very near the bottom station of the Sunnega
Express
