She's most likely right, you know - two days is generally
enough time for everything of relevance to have been said
(sometimes twice over), so unless you happen to find one of
the many tangents of interest, it's probably safe to stop
reading the thread.

I presume she means the "European family" - Greek, Dutch,
whatever - it all relates to r.t.e. ;-)

He left, IIRC, cause of the attacks he got from his signature which
contained a link to his jewelry biz and other absurd manifestations
centered around his work and trolling for clients here...

I did always suggest that he post his entire review here, as opposed to
a link... when he did... it was always a good starting point for good
specific discussions on specific places.

Speaking of "Off-Topic", as of this posting (without
downloading anything subsequent to three hours ago) there
are already 75 posts to this thread. The OP must be livid!
(Unless, as I suspect, he's just a clever troll.)

I was looking for something subtle, not blindingly obvious.

On the other hand, soc.history.war.world-war-ii, another moderated group,
gets an average of 150 posts per day. Comp.risks gets two or three posts a
month, and is considered one of the most important groups in Usenet.
There's no general rule.

The 'noise' of usenet is one of the best features. Means that I can do
the filtering, and no-one else. You get good at it after a while.

I look at Usenet as one big conversation, so just as in real life, though
you may get together with a group of people to celebrate the birth of a
baby, but you generally do not continue to talk strictly about the baby for
the rest of the evening!

Yep, and flamery is also a wonderfully intrinsic part of Usenet...if folks
can't take being flamed they should either grow a thicker skin or ooze right
on out of whatever group they are participating in...
