Good pictures, no sign of the almost continous rain we had in April after
the mini heat wave. Did you try the Faggots?

They weren't in when I called; had to make do with sheep.

I deliberately gave it to you! I knew you could not resist.
There were very few tourists there in April. We met three Chinese ladies on
the train from Cardiff to Merthyr. Wales was their first stop on a one month
visit to the UK, they were very excited about seeing ladies dancing in
costumes (National) and hearing men singing (Welsh Choirs). It was Bank
Holiday Monday and the train was empty apart from them and us. We are going
to 'National Park' they excitedly said, when we got to Merthyr in the by now
heavy rain, the bus station was deserted. No busses ran to the National Park
on a Bank holiday morning, they know how to cater for tourists in Wales.
Three days later I had a fever and a cough, was it SARS or just the Welsh
weather? It took three weeks and a lot of antibiotics to cure it.

Gateshead town centre [1]. It's crap. But you'll not find any tourists for
that very reason.

[1] Applies to hundreds of town centres, but I live in Gateshead so I'm
allowed to say it's crap.

come down to Bexley, (see URL) under half an hour by train from
Charing Cross, as far as I know a tourist has never been here.

take a train to Windsor and start walking to the source of the Thames
(URL below)?

Go to any place on the map you have never heard of?

Go to Ashdown Forest (south from London) and take a walk and a pub
lunch.

Hire a car and drive round the M25 till you see a place signposted you
like the sound off (outwards of course) turn off and at all non urban
junctions take the smaller road, when the road runs out backtrack to
the last pub and have a pint, ask the locals whats interesting in the
area. Report back (if your not sold into slavery).

Go to the end of one of the tube lines?

Go to any tourist area, face the attraction, turn 180 degrees and walk
for 15 minutes.

Slough, Scunthorpe, Hartlepool and Halifax all come to mind but you probably
wont find them very interesting

You wont see many in Wolverhampton or
Smethwick

Then try Whitby in North Yorkshire

Thats where Bram Stoker set Dracula you may recall
and the old abbey and churchyard are as gothic as it gets.

Its also a pretty fishing villlage not over spoilt by tourism
and there somewonderful country walks

I am told by an ex resident that it is the murder capitol of England. The
people there seem incredibly stupid. there is a railway line that only goes
from there to Saltburn and back. I travelled on it several times going to
Redcar races and was invariably asked by joining passengers where the train
was going. Each station has a well marked platform for the direction of
travel.

I am an ex resident, it isnt, in fact the crime rate is lower
than Manchester,Humberside, London, Nottinghamshire etc

    > The people there seem incredibly stupid. there is a railway line

Incorrect some start from Darlington to Saltburn via Middlesbrough
while others originate in Newcastle

Thats race goers for you, they travel the length and breadth
of the country. You for example never seem to have noticed
the fact that there are some services that only go as far as Darlington
while others go on to Newcastle.
