Default What to see and do in France, Switzerland

We're traveling in June and July with our 14-year-old son and 12-year-old
daughter to Germany, Switzerland, France and England. We lived near Munich
for 4 years, so we know what we'll be doing in Germany. We plan to be in
Garmisch on 3-4 July, and we're going to be in Paris by the 8th or 9th. Our
experience traveling in France is limited, as is our French. Any
suggestions for how to get from Garmisch to Paris and what to see and do on
the way would be greatly appreciated.

oh brother! What to do in Paris..
There are scores of books on the subject.
You don't specify if you travel by car or plane?
By car you can drive through Saarbrucken and take the a4 (toll)
In Paris you ought to be there on july 14th!!
National fête with huge fireworks and other celebrations
Otherwise in 2 days : use the metro, walk along rue de Rivoli from Palais
Royal to Place de la concorde, metro line1 up to george V then walk again up
the Champs Elysees to Place de l'Etoile
metro again (still line 1) and get off at Place de la Bastille for a look
round
Metro again get off at république, walk up the Boulevard Magenta until you
get to Barbes, turn left pass the huge Tati shop and experience north
african atmosphere, turn right and walk up any street after until you get to
see the Sacre coeur up on the top of the hill...
walk up the steps or take the funicular, have a look at the church and visit
the surroundings (Place du Tertre etc)
You can sit on the steps and enjoy the view, plenty of music, mimes etc also
to watch
Another obligatory walk would be starting at Metro Saint Michel, walk down
the Boulevars st Michel until the Jardin du Luxembourg (h ave a look
right and left in the smaller streets)
Maybe before going down the BD St m you would like to have a look at
Cathedral Notre Dame metro Cité
Once you've done that it will be shopping !!
get off at Chaussée d'Antin and have a look at the department stores
(Printemps and Galeries Lafayette), then walk to the Opera and have a look
there!
Now one last thing where there are less tourists and if you got only 2 days
it will be difficult : get off at Denfert Rochereau and visit the catacombs.

If you like creepy suburbs just say so there are a few in the north of
Paris.
If you have time do take the train at Gare saint Lazareand visit the chateau
de Versailles !!!
and you just try to learn a few words before leaving, OK?

I should have been more explicit.

We're leasing a Renault Espace in Munich, spending a week in Bavaria, then
driving to Paris. I think we'll go from Garmisch through Switzerland, then
on to Paris. Don't know what there is along the way from (say) Geneva to
Paris.

Geneva is a bit out of the way from Munich. You would be adding many
hours to your drive. Places to visit that would be on the way to Paris
would be Baden-Baden (which is just lovely), Strasbourg, Metz (don't know
if there is anything intersting there) then Reims (&/or Épernay) and on
to Paris.

Baden Baden after Garmishe is a good idea. I did that a few years ago. It=
was
an easy drive and we enjoyed the city. If I had had my way, we would hav=
e
gone the extra half hour and stayed in Strasbourg. Having stayed in both=
, I
would recommend Strasbourg as a stopover. It's only about four hours fro=
m
there to Paris, but if wanting to spend more time before Paris, Reims is =
a
great place visit.

Well, for a start there's Burgundy...
