A child's one? Usually 5 year passports are only issued to under 16s. They are OK.
The term Full 10 year is only to differentiate between full passports and then old 1
year ones. A bit pointless since they were abolished a decade ago (IIRC).
If its otherwise the same as a 10 year one, its OK.

But there are people with British passports who do not have that right. British

all sorts of difference passports from all sorts of different places over the years -
Gib, India sub cont, HK, various Carib Islands etc etc. Hence a 'British' passport
always needs to be qualified.

We aren't in it. UK and Ireland remained outside the agreement due to fears of
terrorism. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_depth/europe/euro-glossary/1230052.stm

As Great Britain is a member of the European Union, passports should not be needed if
you are a British subject. Danielle "Big Al" <[email protected]> wrote

This is *not* true. Britain is not in Shengen and does not have a national ID card.
Therefore a passport is required even within the EU. The only exception is Ireland
and that is a separate agreement pre-dating either country's membership of the EU or
its predecessor organisations.

They are needed because we do not have any other officially accepted photo identity.
Nor are we members of the Schengen Treaty countries.

half true - you dont need a passport if you can 'prove' you are an EU citizen. Of
course, until the UK comes out in the open about the nation ID cards that all new
drivering licences come with, you still need a passport to 'prove' you are a UK
citizen. If there was any other to 'prove' UK citizenship, that would be allowed.
Same as you are 'allowed' to bring as much EU booze and fags into the country as you
want, despite what UK Customs say.
