Umm.... Berkely is in NORTHERN California - The Bay area doesn't really
GET much "summer" as such (when the temp hits 80F, it's considered
"hot") - and winters tend to be damp and decidedly on the chilly side.
("Sunny California" refers mainly to the Southern portion - where we
CERTAINLY have our share of homeless.)

San Francisco attracts homeless people from around the country because
of the mild climate and liberal reputation of the city (police aren't as
brutal, etc.) So no, it isn't "like" "nearly everywhere in the world" in
that regard.

But perhpas it's time for someone to spell it right? Anyway, you just go
through the tunnel from the Oakland/Berkeley side toward Walnut Creek (is
that highway 13, or 17 or 26, I can't remember). On the other side, it
gets damn hot.
