Venice Card?
Hi group,
Is the Venice Card worth getting? Seems to be priced higher than one
could pay for the separate tickets on the transports. Is it a scam?

There are many different Venice "Cards" so you may want to specify.

Re: Venice Card?
It is a gouge, but not a scam. Venice is being destroyed by more and more
rough-shod day trippers, and the town is trying to dicourage them. I don't
think it is working. Gets worse and worse. A single ticket cost 5 euros (
plus 3.50 for luggage). A three day is 21 euros and includes luggage. 21
euros for unlimited travel on the beautiful canals is well worth the
splurge. Don't go to Venice hoping to save money. And don't assume people
are out to scam you.

Re: Venice Card?
I'm not sure what you mean by Venice card. The multiple trip pass for
the vaporetto is a good deal.
At one time I saw an admission card for some museums & churches that
didn't appear to be worth it. FFM

at a guess:
http://www.venicecard.com/default_eng.jsp
the 'must pre-book' rule does look particularly suspicious.
this seems a stupid rule for what, in it's basic form, is no more than
a day pass for a public transport system (it's also available with a
museum pass)

Re: Venice Card?
It looks like a markup of the transit pass with some added discount
opportunities. Not excessive nut doesn't look worth it. FFM
