Default Valencia: airport bus

The aerobus from Valencia airport to the town centre.

* What is the route -- where are stops/pick up points in the town
centre?
* How long does it take?
* Can you pay the driver in cash?

Thank you,
Bruce

There is a Metro bus (yellow ones) going from Av. Menendez Pidal
through Mislata, Quart de Poblet and Manises to the airport, but I'm
not sure this is the one you are referring to.

Runs every 10 minutes or so (less frequently on weekends). Allow at
least half an hour depending on traffic.

Last time I took it (3 yrs. or so) you could pay still pay cash to the
driver.

Thanks, Jordi.
Looking at my map, it seems my hotel at Angel Guimera is within walking
distance of the bus station at Av. Menendez Pidal. Or I could get off
the bus at Mislata and get the metro to Angel G.

Either way, I would like to get to my hotel, unpack, then be at a bar
in the old town eating a dish of paella and drinking a glass of beer*
with 1 hour if possible!

You are more likely to find Aguila or San Miguel, although Estrella,
Mahou and others are widespread, too. If you are lucky, you may even
find some Alhambra and Ambar (which is the one I like the most, brewed
in Zaragoza, although not seen very often out of Aragon).

Btw: Aguila is brewing Heineken in Spain, so you are also very likely
to find it everywhere.

When you emerge from luggage reclaim at VLC, go up one
level, then go outside turn right and the yellow sign
for the Metrobus is along at the end.

You will see from the sign that the bus connects with
the metro at Angel Guimera, so there is no need for you
to wait onboard until you reach Menendez Pidal.

Pay the driver one euro and you will get 10 eurocents change.
Do not, however, expect a rapid trip. It took 45 minutes
to Menendez Pidal in the evening and about the same time
to reach the stop just before the 9 Octubre Metro station
when travelling about 5pm. This is current as of December.

If you are in a tearing rush a taxi takes about 20 minutes
and costs about 12 euros, including the airport surcharge -
which is extra to the fare shown on the meter.

Bus fares within Valencia have gone up for 2005,
so the Metrobus from the Airport probably costs
95 eurocents now
