Hello.
This Summer I'm going to spend a week in Florence, but I think that
there are so many things to see that I will not know where to begin.
What do you suggest me? Museums, churches, squares, restaurants,...
Thanks a lot for your help.

All of them. Start with one, then go down the list.
Or you can just sit in an outdoor cafe, paralyzed by indecision, which is
not a bad choice either.

What do you like? Firenze has enough of what you've listed, so I'll
restrict to a simple recommendation: don't miss Fiesole. The views are
great.

--> The doors on the east side of the baptistery of the duomo by Ghiberti -
called the "Gates of Paradise" by Michelangelo
(the doors in place now are copies, the originals are in the Museo dell'
Opera del Duomo nearby.
--> The doors on the north side of the baptistery - also by Ghiberti -
created earlier, almost as beautiful.
--> Climb to the top of the dome of the duomo, Santa Maria del Fiore. The
dome was designed and built by Brunelleschi.
--> The campanile (bell tower) by Giotto.
--> The Basilica di Santa Croce.
--> The Signoria Palace - the seat of government of early Florence - has a
copy of the David in the square.
--> Piazzale Michelangelo has a great panoramic view of the city, and a
bronze copy of the David.
--> The Accademia houses the original of Michelangelo's David.
--> The Ponte Vecchio - a bridge with jewelers shops along both sides.
And there is too much more to remember...

That doesn't require indecision -- it can be targetted, as there's
often a cafe positioned within viewing distance of many famous sights.
So: buy an Italian newspaper; get a table; get a glass of wine;
admire the view of the monument; peruse the paper and work on your
understanding of Italian; order another wine; move to the next
monument.......
Seriously (well, actually, that *was* serious): for me -- as a
sculpture-rather-than-painting person -- the Bargello outranks every
other museum I visited in Florence (or, indeed, every other museum I've
ever visited anywhere).

Our approach, which we tend to adopt in most cities, was to wander about and
look at whatever took our fancy and did not look too crowded.

I agree with this one. I would suggest just walking around without any real
plan as to what you want to see. This leads to little adventures along the
way which are far more memorable than a scripted visit. Florence is
especially good for this.
NB. I have found that the cafes and eateries further out of the centre of
Florence represent better value and have better fare than the ones in the
touristy areas. Just keep wandering out until you find one where the staff
dont speak english!

Wear good shoes, and bring a good book, because you will stand in line
a lot to see the sights in Flr in summer.
