tourist attractions.
Any recommendations/shopping/travel tipswould be appreciated.

You question is so broad that it's very difficult to help you.
I've traveled to Italy around 15 times. Many others here have
done at least as many trips. Still others here live in Italy.
If you're looking for help, you need to start by telling us at
least approximately where you'd like to go, for how long, what
kind of things you like to do and see, etc.
As it stands, your question isn't very different from "I'd like
to read a book. Any recommendations?"

Your question is way too broad. There are entire books that were
written just to answer your question. Rick Steves wrote a great
book on travel in Italy, which I highly recommend.

Thanks for the book tip.
One usually has a favorite spot to visit, fav. restaurant, and
experience. For anyone who has traveled to Italy...what was this for
you.

My Italy page might help :
http://homepage.mac.com/stepheda/Gra...y/Menu195.html
And assuming you go to Rome, check ot the Vatican :
http://homepage.mac.com/stepheda/Gra...i/Menu203.html
In summary, if you like art, check out the Bargelo in Venice, the
Uffizi, Accademia and Bargelo in Florence, the Vatican Museums in the
Vatican, and the big archeological museum in Naples. If you like ruins
you must visit Pompeii and/or Herculaneum - the stuff in Rome is good
too, e.g. the Colosseum and the Palatine Hill, but Pompeii and
Herculaneum are easier to relate to.
And eat the Italian ice cream called "gelato" as much as possible. I
like Chocolate / Raspberry.

The incredibly beautiful Italian women? WOW.
Also, it took some getting to, but Civita di Bagnoregio was really
really cool. It is an old hilltop village. I have three photos of it
on my Italy photos page:

The legend "Pantheon, the largest dome in Rome until St. Peter's. Rome, Italy" appears
twice.
